Edison Academy received a Grant from the Bettendorf Community Schools Foundation, in partnership with Harmony Beads, Siren Ship, Outreach and other organizations to provide an exploratory Art program for interested Edison students during the 2022-23 school year. Students created art under the direction of Suzanne DeReu, community artist, stage manager and crafter. Students could make jewelry, paint, illustrate written materials and make other creative objects for Elementary students. In partnership with the Siren Ship non-profit, they also created a model city from totally recycled and repurposed materials.
This was a non-credit offering, totally voluntary, and served approximately 15 students. It was offered on Friday afternoons, and student participants were expected to be caught up on their academic work to participate.
